It includes a World Tour mode and an updated version of Colin McRae's "Your Stage" feature. Like its predecessor, it supports downloadable content (DLC) including new cars and stages. The game also features the Ford Focus RS WRC 06 as a bonus car that can be unlocked by beating each event in Career mode, as opposed to buying it through DLC like in previous CMR games. The game is available as a bundle with the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of "Colin McRae: Dirt" on "Rainbow Six Vegas 2". As of December 2009, the game has sold 2.5 million copies worldwide. The game has received mixed reviews, with many reviewers suggesting the lack of significant improvement over its predecessor. Criticisms include overuse of gamer stereotypes, visual blandness and lack of innovation compared to previous games in the series. The game was praised for the improved handling and additional Xbox Live multiplayer modes added in comparison to "Dirt". "Colin McRae Dirt 2" is based around rally racing like the previous game in the series. Players can compete in off-road events set across 48 locations, including Argentina, Australia, Greece and Wales. Super Special Stages are included that are playable on both tarmac and dirt roads; previous entries in the series included separate routes on both surfaces. The game includes 55 stages split across 6 different categories, with 12 in each category. Ten of the SSS routes feature real life locations whilst the other four are fictional. The "Your Stage" feature, previously included in "Colin McRae Rally 04", allows players to create their own stages using an in-game editor which can then be used in singleplayer and multiplayer game modes. The game includes a World Tour mode that is divided into four levels: Amateur, Professional, Semi-Pro and Champion. The number of locations available to players depends on the selected level; players start at six locations in Amateur mode, move up to ten in Professional, 16 in Semi-Pro and 24 in Champion.
